Multicentre Cohort Study in Alcoholic Hepatitis (MICAH)
MICAH is actively recruiting patients with alcohol-related hepatitis and acute decompensation of cirrhosis.
Please contact us if you are a hospital site interested in participating.
Objective:
To identify and validate biomarkers and scoring systems which predict the outcome of alcoholic hepatitis.
Aim:
To recruit patients with Alcoholic Hepatitis (AH), irrespective of severity, to evaluate performance of the prognostic scoring systems and diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers. In order to evaluate diagnostic biomarkers, we will also recruit control patients with acute decompensation of cirrhosis (AD).
Design:
Prospective multi-centre observational cohort study with nested case-control studies for mortality, infection and acute kidney injury.
The study will collect patient data and samples for 90 days and continue remote follow up for 10 years.
